We decided to paint our whole main level before we moved in.  I’m so glad we did!  Click here for our paint choices.

Now that we have painted the trim, I can’t imagine going back to the original oak.  I love the white!

  1. We have similar trim for baseboards and window jams throughout our house, but in a darker colored stain. For some reason the builder did paint the window trim white when the house was built. I want it all white, but I can't decide if we should replace everything with new or go the route you did. It looks so much better!

    1. I'm really glad we decided to paint. Don't get me wrong, there are still touch ups left to do. But I enjoy walking into my house. White has a calming effect. In the end, it was cheaper for us to repaint the trim we already had. I don't mind the shape of our trim, it is very normal and is common in many houses. Same for the banisters and stair rails. But the white modernized my home and freshened it up. The painters first taped off everything so just the trim and areas that needed to be painted white were exposed. They then sprayed the paint and after used a roller and brush on the walls. It worked for us because we didn't have furniture in the house. I can't imagine living in the house and having painters come in to paint. So glad we had the luxury of painting before we moved in. Thanks for your comment Shauna! I look forward to seeing what you decide to do :)
